Issues
Lorrilard Tobacco
Company Cites Coble as a "True Supporter of the People Who Make
Things in America"
Greensboro, Nov
23 -
North Carolina congressman
Howard Coble (R-6th District) has been awarded the National Association
of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence
in recognition of his consistent support of American manufacturers
and their employees, NAM member Lorillard Tobacco Company announced
today. Coble received the honor in a ceremony this morning at
Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro.
The award is given by the NAM — one of the nation’s largest and
most influential business groups — to senators and representatives based
on their voting records on key legislation affecting the manufacturing community.
Its recipients have shown support for a pro-growth, pro-manufacturing, pro-worker
agenda. Members of Congress are notified throughout the congressional session
of votes that will be considered as “Key Votes” used to determine
eligibility for the award.
"Congressman Coble truly understands the importance of supporting manufacturers
throughout North Carolina," said Steve Watson, Lorillard's Vice President, External
Affairs. "Coble has been a true friend to our company and industry, and has proven
consistently that he will do whatever he can to ensure the economic survival
of North Carolina’s proud manufacturers. Howard and his staff set the benchmark
among congressmen in serving constituents' interests.
“In addition, Congressman Coble’s voting record shows that he is
willing to cast the critical votes that will boost competitiveness, job creation
and prosperity for working Americans,” Watson added.
Key manufacturing votes for the 108th Congress include legal reform, tax cuts
and health care costs, among others.
