COBLE TO BE GRADUATION SPEAKER AT U.S. COAST GUARD CEREMONIES IN NEW JERSEY ON FRIDAY
The cochairman of the Congressional Coast Guard Caucus will be the graduation speaker at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, New Jersey, on Friday, September 22. This speaking assignment is special for U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) for two personal reasons. First, he was stationed at Cape May when he was in the Coast Guard, and second, he has sponsored this particular company because one of the new enlistees is the daughter of one of his staffers.
In fact, it will be down-home day for Congressman Coble because five of the recruits who are graduating on Friday are from the 6th District, which he represents in the U.S. House. Among the five is Lauren Williams of Asheboro, a 2005 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School. Lauren’s mother, Rebecca Redding, has worked in the Asheboro district office for Rep. Coble for many years.
In addition to Lauren, the other 6th District residents, who will hear Congressman Coble speak on Friday include Gary Milliner of Franklinville, Justin Eller of China Grove, Jeremy Pfaff of China Grove, and Zachary Rowan of Rockwell.
“I applaud these young people from the 6th District for joining the Coast Guard,” Rep. Coble said. “I can think of no higher public service calling than in joining the Coast Guard, but as an old Coastie, I am just a little bit biased. I look forward to speaking to the recruits at their graduation ceremonies.”
Following graduation, all of the recruits will begin their Coast Guard careers. The 6th District residents have received the following assignments:
Justin Eller - China Grove CGC Decisive, Pascagoula, MS
Jeremy Pfaff - China Grove CGC Gallatin, Charleston, SC
Zachary Rowan – Rockwell NMLBS Cape Disappointment, Ilwaco, WA
Gary Milliner – Franklinville Pending Orders, Elizabeth City, NC
Lauren Williams – Asheboro STA Cape Charles, Cape Charles, VA
Congressman Coble will speak to the entire company, which has a distinct North Carolina flavor. Of the 97 recruits scheduled to graduate on Friday, 10 hail from the Tar Heel state, including the five from the 6th District.
