COBLE
SAYS ROWAN TO RECEIVE I-85 FUNDS
(WASHINGTON, D.C.)----Almost $300,000 will be forthcoming
to Rowan County for pavement and bridge rehabilitation along I-85,
U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) announced today. Congressman Coble
said the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved $288,422
in funds from the Federal Highway Administration's Interstate Maintenance
Discretionary program.
Coble, who represents a portion of Rowan County
in the House, said the DOT funds will be used in a specific section
of I-85. "We have been notified that these federal dollars
will be used on a segment of I-85 than runs from China Grove north
through Salisbury to near Spencer," Rep. Coble stated.
Coble,
a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee
in the House, said I-85 is undergoing a multi-year effort to transform
it from a four-lane to an eight-lane highway.
