COBLE ANNOUNCE LOAN FOR NEW DENTON FIRE TRUCK
South Davidson Fire Department, Inc., has been approved for a federal loan to purchase a new fire engine, according to U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC). Congressman Coble said today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development division has okayed a loan of $220,000 so that the Denton fire department can replace an existing fire truck.
“The South Davidson Fire Department will be able to secure a loan from the Community Facility Direct Loan program operated by USDA,” Rep. Coble. “This is a good deal for the taxpayers because rural fire departments can modernize their equipment through a cost-effective and well-run program. In addition, by upgrading its equipment, South Davidson can improve its response time and that can impact its insurance rating and that might have an impact on the cost of its insurance premiums.”
Funds will be used to purchase a new KME tanker fire engine with a 2000 gallon capacity. The loan is a 20-year note that will be repaid at interest rate of 4.5 percent.
