Coble to tour
Naval Academy and have lunch with Sixth District Midshipmen
on Friday
A retired Coast Guardsman – who
is currently serving in his 11th term in the U.S. House of Representatives – is
scheduled to tour the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland,
and meet with five students from the 6th District who are currently
Midshipmen. U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) will tour the Naval
Academy on Friday, April 22, and then dine in Bancroft Hall – the
world’s largest dormitory – with the five students
he nominated and who received appointments to attend the prestigious
naval school in Annapolis.
“During my tenure in Congress, it has been my honor to nominate dozens
of 6th District students to attend our nation’s military academies,” Rep.
Coble said. “It’s one the best parts of my job. I am looking forward
to getting a tour of the Naval Academy and spending some time with these five
outstanding young men from the Sixth District.”
Unless their duties require their presence elsewhere, scheduled to have lunch
with Rep. Coble are:
Nick Adkins of Salisbury
East Rowan High School
Cynthia and Michael Adkins
Chris Hilliard of Greensboro
Greensboro Day School
Connie and Dale Hilliard
Jonathan Martin of Kannapolis
North Kannapolis Christian School
Glenda and David Martin
Michael Tem of Vass
Union Pines High School
Barbara and Edward Tem
Wes Van Dorn of Greensboro
Southeast Guilford High School
Susan and Mark Van Dorn
In addition, Congressman Coble is scheduled to meet with the Naval Academy’s
superintendent, Vice Admiral Rodney Rempt, while he is in Annapolis.
Following his tour of the Naval Academy, Rep. Coble has also scheduled a meeting
with his former House colleague – and the current Governor of Maryland – Robert
L. Ehrlich, Jr. “It will be good to catch up with Bob,” Rep. Coble
added. “We miss him in the House, but he is doing an outstanding job
as Governor for the people of Maryland.” Coble’s Chief of Staff
Ed McDonald, who spent one year as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Ehrlich,
is scheduled to accompany Congressman Coble during his day in Annapolis.
