Coble receives Reserve Officers Association Award

Washington, Mar 14 - The Reserve Officers Association (ROA) has honored U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) with its prestigious Twice the Citizen Award for his longtime backing of an organization that supports the nation’s reserve forces. Congressman Coble, a retired U.S. Coast Guard Reserve captain, is a life member of the ROA.

Rep. Coble was awarded the Twice the Citizen Award, at the organization’s recent mid-winter conference, which was held in Washington, D.C. “This award means a great deal to me because it comes from my fellow reservists,” Rep. Coble said upon receiving the honor. “ROA does an outstanding job representing the needs of the men and women of our nation’s reserve forces. For ROA to say that I have been of some assistance to the ROA mission means a great deal to me, and I will cherish the award.”

ROA Director of Public Affairs, Lt. Col. Louis J. Leto, USAR, says that Congressman Coble was a natural choice for the award. “Our nation’s reserve forces are more engaged today than they have been since World War II,” Lt. Col. Leto stated. “Men and women continue to leave their families and jobs by the thousands to help preserve freedom around the world. ROA is ever grateful to Congressman Howard Coble and other elected representatives like him who recognize these sacrifices and the role that a strong reserve plays in keeping our nation safe.”

This is not the first time ROA has recognized Congressman Coble for his support. Rep. Coble was earlier awarded the ROA Distinguished Service Citation.
