Post-Election Message from Congressman Coble

As long as I have participated in the world of politics, nothing re ally surprises me, including the results from Election Night. One thing, however, continues to amaze and humble me - that is the faith and support that citizens of the Sixth District of North Carolina continue to show in me. Your overwhelming vote of confidence on November 7, 2006 is truly gratifying and is not something that I take lightly.

Your support is also an affirmation of the confidence you have placed in our outstanding staff. Over the years we have assembled a team of dedicated professionals who have served the needs of the residents of the Sixth District. Your support has reenergized all of us to work even more diligently for you during the next two years.

When first elected to the House, we were a member of the minority party in Congress, and we learned to work across the aisle effectively to get things done. I am confident as we come full circle that our office will continue to be able to work with the Democratic majority in Congress and the Bush Administration to work on legislation that will keep our economy strong, make our national security effective, and find common ground on the issues that face our nation in the years to come.

To all candidates, both winners and losers, thank you for participating in the democratic process and giving the voters real choices. And again, please know that we are grateful for your support and remain committed to working for you.

Representative Howard Coble (NC-R-6) has been awarded the National Association of Manufacturers Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence in recognition of his continued support of American manufacturers and a pro-growth, pro-job agenda.

The NAM Award is presented to members of Congress who vote in the best interest of the manufacturing economy at least 70 percent of the time on Key Manufacturing Votes as designated by a special committee of NAM member companies, large and small. Coble’s voting record was an outstanding 83 percent.

CONGRESSMAN COBLE FILES FOR 12th TERM

The dean of the North Carolina congressional deligation formally filed for reelection today. Congressman Howard Coble (R-NC) said today he would seek a 12th term in the U.S. House this fall.

Coble, who was first elected in 1984, is one of the longest-serving members in the history of the North Carolina congressional delegation. “I am still excited every day to serve the people of the Sixth District of North Carolina,” Coble noted, “and if the majority of those citizens feel I have done a good job in representing their interests in Washington, I will be honored to serve another two years. There remains a fire in the belly and the desire to get the job done.”
